About

I have always suspected that reality is considerably stranger than we generally admit.
I make art about the things that live in that gap—the places where mythology and memory overlap, where symbols mean something before we know what they mean, where creation and destruction are perhaps not as opposed as we like to think.
My work is interested in beginnings. Women emerging from darkness. Bodies becoming landscapes. Spirals going inward and outward at the same time. Old stories wearing new faces. Things that feel ancient even when I’ve just made them.
I work in mixed media because one medium has never seemed quite enough. Paint, ink, texture, pattern, accident, intention—whatever needs to be there gets invited in.
I don't always know what a piece is going to become when I start it.
Sometimes I think I make the artwork.
Sometimes I think I just get out of its way.
My muse would probably tell you I should do the latter more often.
Either way, something usually shows up.
I’m less interested in explaining what my work means than in making something that gives you that peculiar feeling of recognizing something you’ve never seen before.
You know the one.
That’s usually where I want to begin.

My muse has expensive habits.
If you'd like to help enable them, you can leave a little something in the tip jar.
It will almost certainly become paint, ink, or some other questionable artistic decision.
